Ele'ele, a tiny area at less than one sq mile to the west and downhill of Kalaheo, sits at the top of the hill above Pt Allen Small Boat Harbor which descends directly into Hanapepe. Much of the area is an industrial area with large fuel tanks located above the small, but interesting to visit Glass Beach. It's not advised to swim here, but is a great place to collect polished sea glass leftovers at lower tides from an old, now discarded dumpsite. The good-sized Ele'ele Shopping Center, originally frequented by McBryde Sugar Plantation workers is now a mainstay for the local, surrounding communities and those heading out on the many boat tours departing from Port Allen Harbor. On an island with scarce housing, Ele'ele is also known as a place of somewhat affordable housing, with new projects underway.
